Smiling FD Chairman!
Field Day 1998, under the direction of Don (N3VQJ) returned to Glen Rock Park on June 27-28. We used the call sign K3AE and operated class 3A. We had a Novice Station, VHF stations, and took advantage of the FD rule changes and operated packet and HF RTTY.
1st Army MARS test
Gene (W6ORZ) operated on digital modes and using his MARS call sign AAT3CW, participated in the first joint services MARS Field Day and Propagation Test
Thanks to the efforts of Harry (KX3M) and
Steve (KE3TE) we had prizes to award to outstanding
field day participants. Harry contacted several local
restaurants and convinced them to provide a
complimentary meal for designated winners. In
addition, Steve, KE3TW, arranged for a $20 gift
certificate from the Monkton Bicycle Shop.

A word about our Chairman
The Grand Pu-Bah
(Somebody has to be in charge!)

Don McGonigle, N3VQJ, as always, made things happen. Searching the Internet for Field Day clues, to handouts at meetings, to persistent recruiting, to testing antennas, to making checklists (and then ensuring that all the items are checked off!), to setting up equipment and antennas, and he operated too!! Don’s efforts made Field Day 1998 a fun event for all of us!
